Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame Announces 2026 Inductions

The Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame has announced plans to host its 2026 induction ceremony, where distinguished aviation professionals will be honoured for their contributions to the growth and development of the sector.

The event, scheduled for May 2026, marks the second edition of the prestigious initiative and is expected to celebrate a new class of industry leaders whose impact has shaped Nigeria’s aviation landscape and influenced the broader African aerospace ecosystem.

Organisers said the ceremony will serve as the high point of the Aviation Hall of Fame Forum, bringing together policymakers, airline executives, regulators, and global stakeholders under one roof to recognise excellence, innovation, and service.

According to NAHF, the forthcoming induction will spotlight individuals who have demonstrated resilience, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to safety, particularly during a period of significant transformation in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The full list of inductees, it was gathered, will be unveiled in phases over the coming weeks following a rigorous nomination and screening process conducted by a panel of seasoned aviation experts.

Speaking ahead of the event, the co-organiser of NAHF, Wole Shadare, said the initiative is designed to preserve the legacy of those who have made enduring contributions to the sector.

He said, “We are proud to celebrate these industry leaders and enshrine them in the Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame. Their contributions have shaped the course of Nigerian aviation, and we aim to honour their legacy for posterity. Induction into the Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame is the highest honour our domestic industry can bestow on individuals who sacrificed their lives, time and resources for the development the country’s aviation has witnessed in the last 60 years.”

Also speaking, co-organiser Gboyega Adeoye noted that the event would further position Nigeria as a hub for aviation excellence on the continent.

“The Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame is a platform to showcase the best of Nigerian aviation. We are honoured to collaborate with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to make this event a success,” he stated.

Nominations for this year’s edition are currently ongoing, with industry stakeholders encouraged to submit names of individuals with proven track records, integrity, and measurable contributions to aviation development.

NAHF inducted notable figures at its maiden edition, including Harold Demuren, Bernard Aliu, and Anastasia Gbem, among others, whose work significantly influenced policy, safety standards, and institutional growth within the industry.

To further immortalise the honourees, organisers disclosed that their portraits will be displayed at major airports across the country, offering travellers a glimpse into the lives and achievements of those who have shaped the sector.

In addition, a commemorative magazine will be published to document the stories of the inductees, alongside key milestones and developments in Nigeria’s aviation history.
