Nigeria Insurance Week 2025 Unveiled

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria has unveiled the inaugural edition of its Insurance Week as part of efforts to raise insurance awareness.

According to a statement from the CIIN, the 2025 Insurance Week is designed to promote insurance awareness, stakeholder engagement and industry collaboration.

The seven-day event series will focus on awareness, innovation, and transformation in Nigeria’s insurance sector and will take place from June 28 to July 4, 2025, in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.

The event, themed ‘Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future’, will commence on Saturday, June 28, with an insurance awareness walk. The formal opening ceremony, slated for June 30, will take place at the Nigerian Insurers House, followed by an insurance awareness campaign at selected secondary schools, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and Insurance Outreach at strategic markets in Lagos and shopping outlets.

There will be a hackathon competition billed to take place at the College of Insurance and Financial Management, Ogun State, and the grand finale is scheduled for Lagos.

The President of CIIN, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, who highlighted the activities of the event in a virtual meeting held on Friday, June 13, 2025, said the Insurance Week is an initiative of the Institute, designed to promote insurance awareness, stakeholder engagement and industry collaboration.

Ilori said that the weeklong event will be the beginning of another positive turning point for the insurance industry in the country, as all the lined-up activities have been planned to create an enduring and lasting memory in the minds of the insuring public, the practitioners of the business and the general public at large.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Insurance Week Organising Committee, Mr Eddie Efekoha, said a lot of rigour and deliberation have gone into the planning of the Insurance Week, and everyone involved is looking forward to having an event that will create the needed engagement and stimulate patronage for the insurance industry in the days ahead.

Also, the chairman of the Corporate Affairs Managers of Nigeria Insurance Association, Segun Bankole, called on his colleagues nationwide to be actively involved through their individual companies in the event.

Bankole said the Insurance Week will be a pivotal platform for the insurance industry in Nigeria to showcase the importance of insurance in the everyday life of every Nigerian, wherever they are located.
