Nigeria Energy Conference to Spotlight Tech & Local Content

The Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigeria Council is set to host the 48th edition of its flagship Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition, with a focus on technology, local capacity, and sustainable energy development.

Themed ‘Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy,’ organisers said NAICE 2025 would take place from August 4 to 6,  at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos.

In a statement, SPE said this year’s event would bring together major stakeholders across Nigeria’s energy sector to address the realities of a just and inclusive energy transition.

The Chairperson of the SPE Nigeria Council, Engr. Amina Danmadami, said, “This year’s theme is a call to action to integrate innovation with policy, digital talent with real-world challenges, and global best practice with local ingenuity, ensuring Nigeria remains at the forefront of the energy transition.”

According to her, key discussions would focus on the adoption of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital twin technologies to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety, drive cost reduction, and ensure environmental compliance across the energy value chain.

Participants would also explore how localisation of the supply chain can cut foreign dependency, promote indigenous technology, and generate skilled employment through strengthened domestic manufacturing, logistics, and service delivery.

“Building a sustainable energy future demands more than technology alone; it requires bold leadership, empowered people, and inclusive local capacity to transform our energy landscape,” Danmadami added.

According to the organisers, the conference would place a strong emphasis on workforce development.

Danmadami stated that dedicated sessions would address upskilling and reskilling for the digital economy, alongside strategies for attracting a new generation of tech-savvy energy professionals.

It was added that the conference would spotlight SPE Nigeria’s strategic initiatives for young professionals, students, and women in energy.

“Through mentorship programmes, academic partnerships, innovation challenges, and the Women-in-Energy platform, SPE is nurturing the next generation of diverse energy leaders,” the statement read partly, urging interested participants to register for the event online.
