New Podcast Boosts Financial Literacy in Nigeria

A new financial education initiative aimed at helping Nigerians build sustainable wealth has launched with the debut of the Game of Money Podcast, a platform designed to simplify money conversations and equip individuals with practical wealth-building strategies ahead of an upcoming financial literacy conference.

The platform, created by financial expert and Chief Executive Officer of Reb360, Tope Mark-Odigie, was officially unveiled on Wednesday at the company’s headquarters in Lagos.

The initiative combines a podcast series and a conference platform focused on teaching practical approaches to earning, managing, and growing wealth through financial education, investment awareness, and real estate opportunities.

Organisers said the programme was conceived in response to a growing reality in Nigeria, where many people work consistently but remain financially constrained due to limited understanding of wealth creation principles.

Speaking at the launch, Mark-Odigie said the Game of Money was designed to help Nigerians better understand how money works, noting that financial success depends on mastering clear principles often overlooked by many earners.

“Money is a game, and every game has rules. If you do not understand the rules, you cannot win,” she said. “The goal of the Game of Money is to educate people about how money truly works so they can make better financial decisions and expand their financial capacity.”

According to her, despite Nigeria’s abundance of opportunities, many citizens struggle financially because they lack practical financial knowledge.

“We are surrounded by opportunities, yet many people struggle financially because they do not understand the principles of wealth creation,” she added.

Mark-Odigie noted that earlier editions of the Game of Money conference focused largely on entrepreneurship and business development, but the upcoming Game of Money Conference 3.0, scheduled for 9 May 2026, will shift attention to salary earners.

She explained that the new edition aims to demonstrate how individuals can build wealth even without owning businesses.

“Not everybody will become an entrepreneur, but everybody can become wealthy. Wealth creation principles apply across professions, whether you are employed or running a business,” she said.

The podcast, which launched in March 2026, features weekly conversations with professionals, thought leaders, and industry experts who share real-life experiences and strategies covering investment, career growth, financial intelligence, and multiple income streams.

Co-host of the podcast, Martins ‘The Extratainer’, described the programme as more than a media product, calling it an educational platform that allows audiences to access premium knowledge through engaging conversations.

“We get seasoned professionals and amazing personalities who normally charge a lot to share their knowledge, but they come on the podcast to share openly. Even as hosts, we learn something new every time,” he said.

He encouraged listeners to actively share the content to expand its reach and impact.

“When you see something that offers value, share it with others. Become ambassadors of the knowledge because it can reach places we cannot physically go,” he added.

Also speaking at the launch, podcast host Olayemi Okowale said discussions about money often intimidate people, which inspired the team to create a platform that simplifies financial education and makes it accessible to a wider audience.

“Many people shy away from conversations about money, but we want to break it down in a way everyone can understand,” she said. “We bring impactful guests who share their experiences and knowledge, and we want to extend those lessons to as many people as possible.”

Guests at the event viewed selected episodes from the podcast, which organisers said is designed to promote practical learning through relatable stories from individuals across different professions and backgrounds.

Beyond the podcast and conference, Reb360 said it continues to promote wealth creation through real estate and agricultural investment initiatives, including land banking programmes aimed at helping individuals build long-term assets.

Organisers added that the broader goal of the Game of Money platform is to empower Nigerians to make informed financial decisions, break cycles of poverty, and achieve sustainable financial independence through knowledge-driven wealth creation.
