NEM Insurance Champions Employee Wellness with Fitness Walk

NEM Insurance Plc, Nigeria’s leading motor insurance provider and a top-tier general business underwriter, has reinforced its commitment to employee wellness and preventive healthcare through a massive fitness walk and health awareness campaign.

The initiative, which saw staff members trek from the company’s head office in Obanikoro, Ikorodu Road, to Maryland and back, was designed to bridge the gap between professional excellence and personal physical health.

The event served as a dual-purpose platform: an internal wellness clinic for staff and a public sensitisation drive for the ‘NEM Care’ brand philosophy.

Addressing the participants, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEM Insurance Plc, Andrew Ikekhua, underscored the inextricable link between a healthy workforce and a thriving business.

He said, “Regular fitness is no longer an option; it is a necessity for longevity and peak performance. At NEM, we believe that our greatest asset is our people, and their health remains our top priority.”

The MD further emphasised that the company’s success is built upon the energy and dedication of its employees, noting that such initiatives are vital for maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

“Healthy employees are more productive and better positioned to contribute to the organisation’s success. We remain resolved to continue implementing initiatives that promote staff wellbeing, teamwork and a positive work culture,” he noted.

Beyond the fitness walk, the programme included comprehensive medical screenings where staff members checked vital signs and received consultations on early disease detection. The day also featured aerobics sessions, a table tennis tournament and a celebration of staff birthdays to foster a sense of “NEM family” camaraderie.

Ikekhua concluded by commending the staff for their resilience and commitment to the company’s long-term goals.

“I commend our members of staff for their dedication to the company’s goals. Our progress within the industry is a testament to your hard work, and we will continue to ensure that our work environment balances professional excellence with personal well-being,” he added.

The event concluded with a public outreach segment, where officials educated Lagos residents on the necessity of insuring lives and properties, promising that ‘NEM Care’ would continue to provide specialised respect and service to every customer.
