The NASD Over-the-Counter Securities Exchange recorded a decline in market performance in week 25, as its securities index fell by 0.61 per cent to close at 3,320.91 points, down from 3,341.22 points in the previous week.
Similarly, the market capitalisation dropped to N1.94tn from N1.96tn, reflecting a N20bn loss in investor wealth.
Trading activity showed a total turnover of 2.44 million shares valued at N113.13m in 179 deals, compared to the previous week’s three million shares worth N31.85m exchanged in 111 deals.
The consumer goods sector dominated trading, contributing 84.41 per cent of the total value with 1.32 million shares worth N95.49m in 89 deals. The financial sector followed with 1.01 million shares valued at N16.24m, representing 14.35 per cent of the total value across 70 deals.
Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria Plc was the most traded security during the week, accounting for 53.12 per cent of the total volume. The stock recorded 1.29 million shares worth N90.33m in 74 deals.
Despite the market decline, nine companies recorded price gains during the week. Geo-Fluids Plc led the gainers with a 9.87 per cent increase, closing at N4.23 from N3.85. Air Liquide Plc followed with a gain of 9.80 per cent to close at N9.97. Other notable gainers included AG Mortgage Bank Plc, FirstTrust Mortgage Bank Plc, Food Concepts Plc, Acorn Petroleum Plc, Industrial and General Insurance Plc, UBN Property Plc, and Afriland Properties Plc.
On the other hand, Okitipupa Oil Palm Plc led the laggards, declining by 9.50 per cent to close at N219.00 from N242.00. Central Securities Clearing System Plc lost 2.78 per cent to close at N29.00, while Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria Plc shed 2.06 per cent, closing at N69.38 from N70.84.
Meanwhile, Food Concepts Plc announced a dividend of N0.04 per share, with a qualification date of June 10, 2025. The stock traded ex-dividend at N1.61 during the week.
The PUNCH reported that the market capitalisation of the NASD Over-the-Counter Securities Exchange rose to N1.90 tn at the close of trading on Friday, May 30, 2025, marking a notable increase from N1.87 tn recorded the previous week.
