NAMA MD bags leadership award


The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Farouk Umar, has been conferred with a Fellowship award by Better Nigeria in Practice of Good Conduct.

The forum was facilitated by Observers Watch in recognition of his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to ethical governance.

This was made known through a statement made available to our correspondent by the agency.

The award ceremony, held in Abuja as part of the 2025 International Workers Day celebrations, drew high-profile government officials, distinguished Nigerians, and members of the public.

The event celebrated individuals and institutions that have demonstrated transparency, accountability, and dedication to national development.

In his citation, the organizers praised Umar’s transformative leadership at NAMA, highlighting his role in modernising Nigeria’s air navigation systems, elevating professional standards, and cultivating a culture of service excellence.

“Under his stewardship, NAMA has witnessed significant operational improvements, enhanced safety protocols, and the adoption of cutting-edge air traffic management technologies, all achieved with a strong ethical foundation,” the citation read.

While receiving the award, Umar expressed deep appreciation for the honour, dedicating it to the “hardworking staff of NAMA.”

He affirmed that the recognition would further reinforce his commitment to the principles of good governance within the agency.

“This award is a testament to the fact that integrity still counts in public service. It will inspire us to continue to deliver on our statutory mandate with diligence, transparency, and a deep sense of national duty,” he said.

The Better Nigeria in Practice of Good Conduct fellowship is awarded annually to distinguished Nigerians who embody the values of good character, effective leadership, and a steadfast commitment to national progress.
