Ministers to Speak at NOG Energy Week

Ministers, regulators, and executives across Africa’s energy sector are set to headline the 24th edition of NOG Energy Week, scheduled to take place from 29 June to 3 July 2025 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Organisers said in a statement on Thursday that this year’s conference, themed ‘Accelerating Global Energy Progress Through Investment, Partnerships & Innovation’, would convene stakeholders to address the shift of international oil companies to deep offshore operations and the increasing role of indigenous firms in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Confirmed speakers include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Egypt, Karim Badawi; the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe; the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed; and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Felix Ogbe.

According to the organisers, other industry leaders expected include the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s Petroleum Commission, Victoria Hardcastle; Country Chairman and Managing Director of TotalEnergies Nigeria, Matthieu Bouyer; the Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Mid-Africa Business Unit, Jim Swartz; the Managing Director and CEO of NLNG, Dr Philip Mshelbila; the Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group, Abdulrazaq Isa; the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, Wale Tinubu; and the Chairman of Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Wole Ogunsanya.

Speaking ahead of the event, Wemimo Oyelana, Country Director – Nigeria and Portfolio Director – Energy for dmg Nigeria events, said: “For over 25 years, NOG Energy Week has provided a trusted platform where industry leaders come together to have honest conversations and collaborate on solutions that move the sector forward.”

“This year, the focus is on some of the most pressing issues shaping the future of Nigeria’s energy industry, from attracting international and regional funding to positioning natural gas as the transition fuel of choice.”

“It also includes addressing the challenges impacting oil and gas production and exploring the role of industrialisation in driving economic growth. The goal is clear: to shape policy, inspire innovation, and attract sustainable investment that will transform the industry for the better.”

According to the organisers, over $8bn in Final Investment Decisions for deepwater oil and gas projects have been recorded in less than a year, signalling the impact of presidential directives aimed at unlocking investment opportunities and encouraging local participation.
