Midoil refinery tasks contractors on project specifications


As the Midoil Refining and Petrochemicals Company Limited hands over the site to contractors, the company has urged them to adhere to the agreements signed.

The executive chairman of the company, Mrs. Elizabeth Omolara-Akintonde, urged the contractors to adhere to the agreements, the job specifications, and the timeline.

In a statement by Midoil Media and PR Consultant, Gbenga Onayiga, on Thursday, the chairman spoke recently at a ceremony to mark the kick-off/site handover to contractors of the 300-meter wall fencing contract at the entrance of Serenecity Estate in Mogo-Olowu, Itoikin/Ketu Road, Ikosi/Ejinrin LCDA, Lagos State.

According to the statement, Akintonde congratulated the contractors while assuring them of a conducive work environment and maximum security.

However, she emphasised the significance of getting the project delivered to specifications and at the agreed time.

Speaking, a retired administrative judge of Lagos State, Justice Solomon Hunponu-Wusu, who is also a shareholder in the company, expressed satisfaction with the feats achieved so far.

“When you have a company like Midoil Refinery and its subsidiary, Serenecity Properties, carefully articulating a robust and inclusive community relationship strategy, the positive result is what plays out today,” he declared.

Hunponu-Wusu further stated that now that the host communities are on the path of rapid development, it behoves them to align with the vision and mission of the company tagged, ‘The Midoil Reality.’.

The retired judge said he was pleased with the pace of work at the project site and commended the tenacity of Mrs. Akintonde.

Similarly, the project manager, architect Jane Adaku, explained that eight contractors bid for the job, out of which three were selected.

According to her, “Midoil was meticulous in picking the contractors. They went through the tender selection and evaluation processes before the board gave its approval for their selection. Their experience and credibility were considered in picking them.”

Adaku noted that each of the companies would be expected to construct 300 meters of the fence within 64 days.

One of the contractors, Dr. Iyabode Obasa of RIOA Investment Limited, gave an assurance that her company would live up to expectations.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Indepth Associates Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ayo Abidolu, disclosed that the contract is an opportunity for indigenous companies to prove their mettle in the construction industry.

He promised not to let his clients down.

“With the brief site handover of the wall fence project of the Midoil Serenecity Project to the contractors, work is expected to commence immediately,” the statement read.
