Meta Deepens Community Engagement Through Facebook Lounge In Lagos

Meta, through its flagship platform Facebook, has reinforced its commitment to creativity, community and connection at this year’s Lagos Fashion Week, hosting its first-ever Facebook Lounge experience.

The three-day activation created an immersive environment that brought together young adults, designers, creatives, and fashion enthusiasts to explore new forms of expression and digital engagement.

Speaking on the initiative, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, Oluwasola Obagbemi, said Facebook remains a hub for cultural conversations across the world, including Nigeria.

“Events like Lagos Fashion Week highlight how our platform brings people together to celebrate creativity, culture and community in real time.

“We are inspired by how young Nigerians are using tools such as Marketplace, Reels and Groups to express themselves, build communities and turn their passions into opportunities,” she said.

Obagbemi noted that fashion remains the largest category on Facebook Marketplace in Nigeria, underscoring the platform’s role in supporting local creators and entrepreneurs.

During the event, content creator and media presenter Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On-Air), alongside fashion influencer Nonye Udeogu (Thisthingcalledfashion), hosted live interviews and interactive sessions from the Lounge. Their conversations offered insights into how creators are leveraging Facebook’s tools including Groups, Reels and Meta AI to strengthen online communities and grow their personal brands.

Meanwhile, the Facebook Lounge served as a vibrant hub for celebrities, creators and fashion enthusiasts to network, unwind and share ideas. Similarly, guests participated in photo sessions, Facebook-themed games and the Reels Booth, where they produced short-form videos capturing the energy and creativity of Lagos Fashion Week.

The social media firm reaffirmed its commitment to empowering people to discover their interests, build communities and connect with others in more meaningful ways.
