Meet DannyTheProphet, A Rare Breed Of Talent In Nigerian Music Space

Daniel Osaro Asemota, popularly known by his stage name DannyTheProphet (DTP), is steadily carving out a unique space for himself in the Nigerian music industry.

Born on February 6, 2001, the Abuja-bred singer and songwriter brings a refreshing fusion of Afrobeats and Highlife, inspired by a lifetime of musical influence and personal experiences.

DTP’s journey into music began almost as early as his childhood. Raised by parents who were passionate music lovers, he was exposed to a wide range of sounds that shaped his artistic curiosity.

His earliest defining moment occurred at the age of 14 while attending Stella Maris College in Abuja. Having joined the school choir, he was appointed Choir Master just three weeks later, a role that marked his first encounter with composing music.

By the time he finished secondary school at 15, he had already distinguished himself, earning the award for Most Socially Interactive Student.

A strong pillar in his career is his brother, Abraham Uhunoma Asemota, a producer and creative director who has worked on all of DTP’s projects.

Abraham was the first to recognise his potential, offering both guidance and creative partnership, an alliance that continues to define DTP’s sound and artistic identity.

Beyond music, DTP boasts an impressive academic background. He attended Unity Montessori Nursery & Primary School in Abuja. He later studied at Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom, graduating with a First-Class degree in Finance & Investment.

He completed his NYSC year with Raypower FM Abuja, further strengthening his understanding of media and entertainment.

DTP formally stepped into the music spotlight with the release of his debut single, “Feelove”, on August 21, 2021, a record that garnered over 40,000 views on YouTube.

His follow-up single, “Jollof”, released on March 9, 2022, earned him broader recognition, garnering more than 20,000 views, and opened the door to a five-year distribution deal with Dapper Music.

His latest release, “You Dey Whine Me,” is an expressive blend of Afrobeats and Highlife, inspired by his travels, personal encounters, and the captivating energy of Lagos.

The track has amassed over 100,000 streams across all platforms, becoming his first officially distributed project under the Dapper Music partnership.

Young, talented, and remarkably intentional about his craft, DannyTheProphet is proving to be a rare breed of talent in the Nigerian music scene.

With a compelling story, an evolving discography, and a creative team rooted in family, he represents the new wave of artists reshaping the sound and global appeal of contemporary African music.
