Lions Club Chief Ajileye Awarded Honorary Doctorate

European American University has conferred an honorary Doctor of Science degree in Business Management and Corporate Leadership on the President of the Lions Club, Abeokuta Branch, Chief Sunday Ajileye.

The honorary degree recognises Chief Ajileye’s exceptional contributions to business growth and humanitarian service, particularly through his non-profit organisation, the SIB Foundation.

Known for his passion for community service, Chief Ajileye has supported widows, orphans, market women, inmates, and underprivileged students across Ogun State and beyond. Under his leadership, the SIB Foundation has consistently provided food relief, educational support, and donations to correctional facilities.

“Helping others gives my life meaning,” Chief Ajileye said in a statement to The PUNCH while receiving the degree. “This award is a call to do more. It is about service, compassion, and the impact we leave behind.”

Aside from his philanthropic work, Chief Ajileye runs a diversified business empire that includes a fuel station, gas plant, and event centre. Despite his entrepreneurial success, he remains focused on giving back to the community.

His leadership style, according to associates, is marked by humility and accessibility. He regularly encourages young Nigerians, especially those without formal education, to believe in themselves.

“Don’t write yourself off,” Chief Ajileye often advises. “Greatness is not just about personal success; it is about what you do for others.”

In Ilaro and neighbouring communities, Chief Ajileye is seen as a beacon of hope. His new academic honour further cements his role as a leader who combines business success with a life of service.

Observers described the doctorate conferment as a well-deserved recognition of a man whose work continues to transform lives at the grassroots level.
