Leadway, others shine at insurance industry awards


Insurance firms, Leadway Assurance Company Limited, AIICO Insurance Plc, and Noor Takaful, among others, have emerged as the top winners at this year’s Almond Insurance Industry Awards.

The 2024 Almond Insurance Industry Awards themed #Reinvent Edition held recently in Lagos to celebrate outstanding players in the insurance industry.

At the end of the night, Leadway Assurance Company Limited emerged as the winner in the General Insurance Company of the Year Category.

AIICO Insurance Plc and Noor Takaful clinched Life Insurance Company and Takaful Insurance Company of the Year for the second year running.

Goxi Microinsurance won Microinsurance Company of the Year while Insurance Brokers of Nigeria won Insurance Broking Company of the Year.

In the individual category, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of REX Insurance, Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, won the Insurance Woman of the Year, while  MD/CEO of ARK Insurance Brokers, Kayode Awogboro emerged as Insurance Broker of the Year.

The duo of Valentine Ojumah and Ogala Osoka were awarded the Insurance Life Achievers Awards for their contributions to the Insurance Industry. Mrs. Modupeola Dallass–Olusanya received the 2024 Special Recognition Award.

The most-coveted award of the event Insurance CEO of the Year went to Mr Tunde Fajemirokun, who is the MD/CEO of AIICO Insurance Plc.

 The keenly contested awards this year recorded over 10,000 votes from stakeholders within and outside the Insurance Industry.

Some of the criteria used to judge winners this year were financial strength of companies (assets & shareholders fund), gross premium income, claims payment/speed, corporate social responsibility as well as brand visibility amongst others for the companies.

For the individual categories, length of service and contributions to the industry, performance of the company they lead, and strong leadership skills were used.
