LAPO Microfinance Bank has deepened its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development by sponsoring two major TEDx events, TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu, as part of its ongoing investment in innovation, thought leadership, and community-driven change.
In a statement, the lender said its support aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal four on quality education, Goal eight on decent work and economic growth, and Goal 10 on reduced inequalities.
Speaking ahead of the events, the Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at LAPO Microfinance Bank, Oluremi Akande, said, “Our partnership with TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu is a reflection of our enduring commitment to youth development and nation-building. We are investing in platforms that shape future leaders and entrepreneurs, people who will drive Nigeria’s economic and social progress.”
TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu are independently organised TED events that provide vibrant spaces for young Nigerians to exchange ideas, spark critical dialogue, and promote local solutions with global relevance. LAPO MfB said it believes such platforms are vital in building a more inclusive and knowledge-driven society.
Akande stated that LAPO MfB’s involvement in TEDx events goes beyond sponsorship. “By supporting these platforms, we are reinforcing our belief in the power of storytelling, innovation, and youth-driven transformation,” he added.
The bank added that its recent sponsorship builds on its previous engagements with TEDxLagos and TEDxUNIMED, where it said that it promoted inclusive finance, innovation, and gender equity.
LAPO MfB stressed that it views TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu as springboards for unlocking youth potential, challenging conventional thinking, and fostering resilience amid Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
The bank reiterated that youth empowerment remains central to its corporate social responsibility and strategic direction.
