Lagos releases 2025 land use charge bill

The Lagos State Government has released the 2025 Land Use Charge bill, offering property owners a 15 per cent discount for payments made within 30 days of receipt.

The announcement was made by Commissioner for Finance, Abayomi Oluyemi, in a statement on the state government’s official website on Sunday.

According to Oluyemi, property owners across the state are encouraged to take advantage of the 15 per cent discount on their Land Use Charge by making early payments before the deadline.

He explained that the Land Use Charge is a crucial revenue source that enables the government to maintain and improve essential public infrastructure, including roads, healthcare facilities, schools, and security enhancements.

He said, “Recent projects funded through taxpayers’ contributions include the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue and Red Lines – transforming urban mobility and reducing travel time; construction and rehabilitation of key roads and bridges – easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity; expansion of healthcare facilities – providing better access to quality healthcare for residents; enhanced security measures – ensuring a safer environment for businesses and communities amongst others.”

Abayomi emphasised that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of building a safe, livable, and globally competitive megacity remains steadfast.

He said the present administration intends to continue to implement policies that drive sustainable development, attract investments, and elevate Lagos to the ranks of the world’s most advanced cities.

“This is a call to action for all property owners to support this mission by fulfilling their civic duty and paying their Land Use Charge promptly. By doing so, they contribute directly to the growth and transformation of Lagos into a #Greater Lagos that all residents can be proud of.

“To ensure convenience and seamless payment, property owners can pay their Land Use Charge using the following methods: Internet Banking; Bank Deposits – at designated banks across the state; mobile payment – through USSD codes; POS available at LUC offices; Lagos Online Assistant,” he added.

The commissioner, therefore, urged all property owners to take advantage of the 15 per cent discount by paying early and playing their part in making Lagos a modern, thriving metropolis.
