Lagos PETROAN chairman resigns

The Chairman of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, in Lagos, Akinola Ogunyolemi, has resigned from his position.

Ogunyolemi announced his resignation through a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday.

“I, Otunba Akinola Ogunyolemi, hereby wish to inform the general public of my official resignation from the activities of PETROAN Lagos State Chapter debut as the State Chairman, effective February 20, 2025,” he stated.

Ogunyolemi disclosed that his letter of resignation has since been received at the National Secretariat, Abuja , and it was accepted by the National President of the Association, Billy Gillis-Harry.

“Messages to this effect have also been conveyed to other Executive members of the Lagos Chapter elected during the association’s Ordinary General Meeting held in Lagos in January 2025 including the Chapter’s Secretary, Ehimen Joseph, admonishing the executive team to remain committed to advancing their welfare and maintaining unity within the Lagos chapter,” he said.

The outgoing chairman maintained that despite the leadership change, the chapter’s structure remains intact, with key executives, including the Public Relations Officer Mrs Jane Okoh; the Treasurer, Prince Bakare Adeyinka; and the State Technical Adviser, Mr Olugbenga Alex, continuing in their respective roles.

“May I use the opportunity to wish both the leadership at the national and state level well in their purposeful drive for a better PETROAN,” he submitted.

The PUNCH reports that Ogunyolemi was elected and sworn in in January this year.

No reason was given for the sudden resignation, which happened less than two months after he assumed office as the PETROAN chairman in Lagos.
