The Executive Chairman of the Lagos Mainland Local Government Area (LGA), Alhaji Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, and a group known as Like Minds in the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state has canvassed support for the governorship ambition of Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB).

Mr Emilagba, who spoke in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at a forum organised by Like Minds to solicit support for the aspiration of Hon. Bolarinwa, added that Bolarinwa, a former member of the House of Representatives, had garnered both legislative and executive experience to govern Kwara State.

Emilagba, who also hails from Kwara state, said the governorship aspirant was “a Councillor, and two terms Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland before being elected to the House of Representatives to represent the same Mainland local council.

He said, “This is the time for him to come out and join the governorship race. BOB, who is from Kwara South, knows the knotty issue of insecurity in the district. We need someone like him who knows the system of government.

“Current Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq is doing fantastically well. But I believe that if we allow BOB to govern the state, the problem of insecurity in Kwara South will become a thing of history.”

The Lagos Council boss also hinted that Hon. Bolarinwa laid a solid foundation when he was the Chairman of the Mainland and “that is the foundation of good governance which the successors, including myself, are building upon”.

On his part, Chairman of Like Minds, Bayo F Ige, said: “This Assembly of like-minded citizens from all 18 wards from Ifelodun local government area is not merely a meeting, it is a movement. A movement driven by a purpose, powered by the people and pointed towards progress.

“Our support for BOB is not built on money or manipulation, but on merit and consistency. He has neither induced nor imposed himself; rather, he has inspired and impacted lives through decades of dedicated service.

“Hon Bolarinwa’s experience spans both executive and legislative arms. His leadership was instrumental to the historic 2019 ‘otoge’ revolution, which peacefully ended over four decades of political dominance and ushered in a new era of accountability and inclusiveness in the state.”
