Lagos APC Primaries: Jandor Dismisses Consensus Rumours

2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate and leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, better known as Jandor, has dismissed speculations that a preferred candidate has already been endorsed ahead of the party’s 2027 primaries.

Jandor, who made this clarification on Saturday, said the race remains open and all aspirants will participate in a free, fair and credible primary election.

Speaking in a statement issued by his spokesman, Gbenga Ogunleye, Jandor reaffirmed his commitment to due process, party discipline, and internal democracy.

According to him, he remains focused on strengthening his grassroots structures and engaging party members across the state, while preparing for the contest in line with party guidelines.

The statement read, “We note the ongoing speculations alleging that a preferred aspirant has been anointed for our party, the APC, ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election.

“We restate, in line with the official position of the Lagos State APC leadership as communicated by the State Chairman, that no aspirant has been anointed and that all aspirants will participate in a credible primary election.”

“Should our leader and the leadership resolve to adopt a consensus candidacy, JANDOR will fully align with that decision, irrespective of who emerges.”

He added that his position reflects both a readiness to contest and a willingness to abide by the collective decision of the party.

Adediran also cautioned party members against mistaking individual campaigns or group endorsements as the official position of the APC leadership.

“When the party and our Leader speak, I am sure no one will do otherwise,” he stated.
