Kogi SDP Appoints Acting Chairman, Publicity Secretary


The Kogi State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Thursday, named Dr Emmanuel Achimugu as the State Acting Chairman and Hon. Ilemona A. Ichaba as Publicity Secretary, following the resignation of their predecessors.

The appointments, both from Kogi East, were unanimously approved at a stakeholders’ meeting focused on reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Achimugu hails from Omala LGA; Ichaba from Dekina LGA. Both were sworn in at the meeting held on Friday, April 10.

A new 10-member reconciliation committee, chaired by Col. Suleiman Babanawa, was also inaugurated to address internal grievances, with Comrade Solomon Bebeto as secretary.

The party resolved to identify influential stakeholders in all 21 LGAs to fund local executives, supervise e-registration of members, and distribute party cards. Leaders said the moves are intended to balance representation across Kogi’s three senatorial districts.

Over 90 stakeholders attended, including Prince Gowon Yakubu Eneche, Hon. Collins Onogu, Barr. Malik Babanawa and Dr Ahmed Adams.
