Kano Emirate: Bichi Accepts Sanusi’s New District Head

The Bichi Emirate Council yesterday expressed its readiness to accept the appointment of Munir Sunusi Bayero by the Emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as its new district head.

The leaders of the Council, led by the Bichi Local Government Area Chairman, Hamza Sule Maifata; Chief Imam Lawan Abubakar, and the Elders’ Forum Chairman, Isyaka Bichi, gave the assurances when they paid him Sanusi homage and solidarity visit at his palace.

The Emir’s move to appoint Bayero as the Bichi District Head last week met with resistance, forcing law enforcement agencies to intervene by sealing off his palace.

Maifata pledged the district’s loyalty to Sanusi. He said: “Even on the controversial day set for your visit to Bichi to escort the new District Head Munir Sanusi Bayero, we were fully prepared to receive you.

“However, we only learned of the crisis when we were already celebrating your arrival. “We in Bichi, from our Imams, village heads, wards heads, and the entire community, are behind your royalty, and our solidarity is unwavering.

“That is why we chose to come today in large numbers to emphasise our loyalty to you and to the decisions you have made for your domain, Bichi.”
