Jidenma becomes NSCC first female president


The Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce has elected Dr Ije Jidenma as its first new president and chairman.

According to a statement, Jidenma’s appointment was announced after an election during its annual general meeting held recently in Lagos.

She became the first female leader of the chamber, which was established in 2000 to foster trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa.

Jidenma, a seasoned management consultant and board advisor, succeeds Mr Osayaba Giwa-Osagie.

According to the chamber, her election marks a significant milestone for the rapidly growing NSCC, adding that she brings extensive experience, having served on various boards, including FirstBank of Nigeria Limited and MoMo Payment Savings Bank.

She is also the founder of Leading-Edge Consulting, a prominent human resources and organizational development firm.

The chamber said a partner at KPMG, Mr Ajibola Olomola was re-elected as vice chairman, while the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Mr Wole Adeniyi, joined its board alongside other directors from MTN Nigeria, South African Airways, and African Capital Alliance.

According to NSCC, Jidenma is a distinguished professional, holding fellowships with the Chartered Institute of Directors, the Nigerian Institute of Management, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.

Her career includes leadership roles in human resources, corporate governance, and psychometric research.

“Jidenma has championed the inclusion of women and youth in leadership, reflecting her dedication to equity and capacity building. Through platforms like the Goddy Jidenma Foundation, she continues to support societal development.

“Jidenma’s election is expected to bolster the NSCC’s role as a vital link for bilateral trade and investment,” the chamber noted.
