A new plug-in hybrid sports utility vehicle has entered Nigeria’s auto market, promising a mix of rugged performance and fuel-saving efficiency amid rising interest in cleaner mobility solutions.
The Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle combines off-road strength with electric technology, positioning itself as an option for motorists seeking durability without sacrificing comfort.
Measuring 4,785mm in length, 2,006mm in width, and 1,875mm in height, the SUV presents a bold, commanding presence suited to both urban and rough terrains.
Speaking on the development, Kemi Adeola of Jetour Nigeria said the model was designed to meet the realities of Nigerian roads, offering flexibility for different driving conditions.
She noted that the vehicle delivers a balance of performance, efficiency, and advanced technology, while aligning with the country’s gradual shift towards cleaner energy.
According to the company, its accredited dealers — Elizade Nigeria Limited, New Era Autovehicle Services Limited, Kojo Motors, Germaine Auto Centre, Tab Autos Limited, R.T. Briscoe Motors, and Mandilas Autos — have been positioned nationwide to ensure availability and after-sales support.
One of the vehicle’s key features is its dual driving capability. The hybrid system allows it to run on petrol or switch seamlessly to electric mode, helping to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Jetour said the model also addresses concerns around electrified vehicles with multiple charging options, including fast and slow charging, engine charging, and brake energy recovery, designed to minimise range anxiety.
With a 26.73kWh battery, the SUV is built to handle city traffic, highways, and more demanding terrain. When battery levels drop, a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine functions as a generator, supplying power to keep the vehicle running.
Safety features include multiple airbags, advanced emergency braking, anti-rollover control, and a 360-degree camera system. Other driver assistance technologies such as lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, and collision alerts are also included.
Inside, the vehicle offers a 15.6-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with features such as adaptive cruise control, a panoramic roof, ventilated seats, and a premium audio system.
Performance is powered by a three-speed hybrid transmission system designed to deliver efficient energy use and responsive handling, whether in electric or hybrid mode.
The introduction of the model follows Jetour’s recent recognition in the Nigerian auto industry, including a fastest-growing brand award in 2024 and a car of the year win in 2025.
The company added that the SUV comes with a five-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, reflecting confidence in its durability.
Industry analysts say the launch signals intensifying competition in Nigeria’s SUV segment, especially as automakers continue to explore electrified options suited to local conditions.
