Iyabo Obasanjo Meets Tinubu Over Ogun Guber Bid


The daughter of former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ogun State governorship aspirant, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, has formally briefed President Bola Tinubu on her governorship ambition.

New Telegraph gathered that the meeting held in the President’s Lagos residence centred on Obasanjo’s intention to contest the governorship of Ogun State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking after the meeting on Tuesday, Obasanjo stated that she told the president about her plans for the state, outlining her vision for the state, highlighting priorities in governance, development, and public service if elected into office.

Obasanjo also reflected on her long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, describing it as one built over years of political engagement and mutual respect.

During the meeting, the former commissioner reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.

She noted that the relationship has shaped her political journey and informed her approach to leadership.

She said, “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”
