IPPG Backs Tinubu, Names New Chairman

The Independent Petroleum Producers Group has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what it described as “unprecedented” reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, citing responsive governance and strategic leadership appointments as key milestones.

Speaking at the just-concluded NOG Energy Week in Abuja, IPPG Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa praised the administration’s delivery on long-standing industry demands, including the commercial transformation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the appointment of Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer.

“Most of the industry requests have been delivered, and this level of responsiveness is unprecedented,” Isa said, crediting Tinubu’s administration for aligning reforms with industry expectations.

He noted that Nigeria’s oil and gas sector now stands at a pivotal moment, citing the conclusion of International Oil Companies’ divestments, full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, and a renewed leadership structure across the value chain.

“With these developments, the ball is now firmly in our court,” Isa declared, calling on indigenous operators to rise to the challenge of driving Nigeria toward its ambitious targets of producing three million barrels of oil and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.

According to him, recently divested onshore and shallow water assets, many of which are now operated by IPPG members, would be instrumental in meeting these goals.

He urged indigenous companies to scale up investment, expand infrastructure, deepen community engagement, and promote good governance.

“We must become catalysts for economic transformation, attract strategic investment, and operate with the highest level of social responsibility,” he stated.

In a leadership transition move, Isa announced the appointment of Mr Adegbite Falade, the Group CEO of Aradel Holdings, as the Chairman-designate of IPPG’s Board of Trustees and Governance Council.

According to him, Falade’s appointment would take effect on September 11, 2025, coinciding with the group’s 10th anniversary.

“Mr. Falade will no doubt build on our legacy and lead IPPG to greater heights,” Isa said.
