IFRS Sustainability Standards Training in Lagos This Septemb

The International Sustainability Standards Board, in collaboration with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission, NGX Regulation Limited, and EY, will host a two-day technical training programme on IFRS sustainability disclosure standards in Lagos.

In a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday, the training, scheduled for September 10 to 11, will take place at the Lagos Zonal Office of the SEC. It is designed to support disclosures by helping preparers understand the requirements of the ISSB Standards, particularly IFRS S1 and IFRS S2.

According to the organisers, the learner-centric event will combine presentations, question-and-answer sessions, audience engagement exercises, and networking breaks. It will be led by ISSB members Ndidi Edozien and Richard Barker, alongside Neil Stewart, Director of Corporate Outreach at the IFRS Foundation.

Participants will include representatives of listed and private companies, public interest entities, accounting professionals, and other stakeholders involved in applying sustainability reporting standards.

The organisers said the training would prioritise participants with sustainability reporting responsibilities, such as chief sustainability officers, risk managers, investor relations officers, and ESG controllers.
