The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has hosted a golf tournament in honour of its diamond President, Davidson Alaribe.
The golf tournament was held last week at the Ikoyi Golf Club and involved members of the institute.
According to ICAN, the golf tournament is a celebration of professional bonding, wellness, and friendly rivalry.
Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony following the conclusion of the tournament, the ICAN president lauded the team spirit of the players and the camaraderie that the sport brought into the profession.
He said, “Every ICAN president will have a golf tournament in his honour. Though I’m not a golfer, I’m a footballer, but I’m happy being here. This tournament has brought in a lot of professionals, a lot of friends, and a lot of people who are members of this club to come and relax and also play their game. It has created a forum also for people to network.”
The chairman of the Organising Committee, Wale Raji, in his opening remarks, appreciated the members of the committee for their efforts in ensuring the event came to life.
Some of the winners include Linda Obieze, who got the trophy for Longest Drive (Female), and Olusegun Layole, who emerged as the Longest Drive- Male and overall winner.
Others include the Overall Gross Winner, Rasaki Muritala, and the Overall Female Winner, Patience Kachi.
In the veteran category, a former ICAN president, Doyin Owolabi, emerged winner.
“With each swing and stride, members championed the importance of fitness, fun, and fellowship in the accounting profession,” ICAN concluded.
