The Ilupeju/Gbagada District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has inaugurated its first female chairman, Dr Titilayo Fowokan.
In a statement on Tuesday, it was revealed that Fowokan is also the fifth chairman of the District Society.
Also sworn in were the new Executive Committee members. During this ceremony, the immediate past chairman of the district society, Dr Samuel Abey, handed over and gave an account of his performance for 2024/2025.
Notable among his achievements is the birthing of three brand new district societies during his tenure, all of which were approved by the ICAN Council. More than twenty candidates were given full sponsorship for the ICAN Professional Examination, with seven candidates qualifying as Chartered Accountants during their tenure, amongst others.
The district said, “Dr Titilayo Fowokan’s investiture marks a significant milestone not only in the history of the Ilupeju/Gbagada District but also in the wider ICAN community, as it reflects the growing recognition of excellence, diversity, and capable leadership within the profession. Her unwavering commitment to professional excellence, ethical standards, and service has been consistently demonstrated throughout her illustrious career.
“We are confident that under Dr Titilayo Fowokan’s leadership, the District Society will experience notable advancement. Her tenure promises to be one of innovation, inclusive growth, and strengthened member engagement. With her vision and passion, we are assured of progressive contributions to the Institute’s agenda within our jurisdiction and beyond.”
The ceremony was chaired by the 61st President of ICAN, Haruna Yahaya, who was represented by Ezekiel Anagha, a past President of ICAN; Comfort Eyitayo, President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; Mr Innocent Ohagwa, immediate past president of CITN; and Mr Samuel Agbeluyi, among others.
