…Begins Reinstatement Programme
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Rear Admiral (rtd.) Ibok Ete-Ibas has commenced the handover programme to mark the return of Governor Siminialayi Fubara to Government House, Port Harcourt.
This is as Ibas made it clear that he won’t stay beyond the six months President Bola Tinubu gave him to run the state.
Saturday Telegraph recalls that President Tinubu had suspended Fubara in March and appointed Ibas to administer the state following the political crisis that engulfed Rivers due to the political tussle between the governor and Barr. Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The state government, through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, on Saturday, announced the official transition from emergency rule to democratic governance.
In a statement, the SSG disclosed that a Thanksgiving is scheduled to hold at the Ecumenical Centre, Abonema Wharf Road, Port Harcourt at 10 am, with all guests asked to be seated by 9:30 am.
The statement said: “The Government of Rivers State is pleased to invite the Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Chairmen, Heads of State Security and Para-Military Agencies, Traditional Rulers…”
He also invited “Chairmen and members of Boards and Governing Councils, Captains of industries, Government Officials and invited guests to the Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service, as part of transition activities to usher in Democratic Governance in Rivers State”.
At an event in Government House on Friday, Ibas had declared that he had completed the assignment given to him by President Tinubu, especially the stabilisation of the state.
“I have completed President Tinubus assignment. The presidential mandate has been sufficiently achieved” ~Ibok-Ete Ibas
“Mr President’s mandate to me was clear: stabilise the state, re-establish its institutions, and return Rivers State to full democratic governance. With the successful conduct and inauguration of local government councils, we have decisively delivered on that mandate.”
