Nigerian singer Bigiano has claimed that he wrote the popular hit song “Dami Duro” for fellow artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, stating that he specifically penned the song’s hook.
The “Shayo” crooner made the claim during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he spoke about his contribution to the 2011 breakout track that launched Davido into mainstream fame.
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano said.
Addressing his long absence from the music scene, Bigiano explained that he deliberately took time off to prepare for a stronger comeback.
“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he said.
He also dismissed suggestions that his hiatus was due to financial struggles, insisting that he remains financially stable. “I can’t be broke,” he added.
‘Dami Duro’, released in 2011, is widely regarded as the song that shot Davido to stardom and has since been listed among the greatest Afrobeats songs of all time by several local and international music platforms.
Despite Bigiano’s claim, he is not officially credited as a co-writer of the song, and Davido has yet to respond to the assertion.
