Headies Awards Ceremony Delayed As Guests Lament

It’s past 8pm (WAT) Sunday night and the much-talked-about Headies Awards ceremony was yet to begin contrary to official announcements put out by the organisers.

This is as a cross-section of guests and other music enthusiasts present at the Landmark Event Center venue were yet to be allowed inside the hall where the award presentations and other side attractions will take place.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the Red Carpet event preceeding the Headies Awards did not hold as scheduled at 7pm.

A social media user on X @UnlimitedEniola lamented the delay, claiming celebrity guests were absent as at 7.30pm.

He wrote: “Everyone outside as at 7:30 as Headies organisers yet to commence event. The event was slated for 6.p.m, then 7.p.m was announced as the time to start but as at the time of reporting, red carpet is yet to commence and the celebrities are yet to be sighted. #Headies #Back2Base”

The event, which normally takes three hours to hold with more than 20 categories of awards, is expected end by 11pm or thereabout, going by precedence.

Last year and for the last two years, it was held at Atlanta, Georgia in the United States and broadcasted live on HipTV owned by the founder and chief organiser of HEADIES Award, formerly Hip Hop Awards.
