Guinness Nigeria Plc has paid tribute to its dedicated employees as part of its 75th anniversary celebration, recognising their unwavering contributions to the company’s seven-decade legacy of excellence in Nigeria’s beverage industry.
The tribute was conveyed in a statement on Tuesday following a grand celebration held at the company’s Ogba-Ikeja headquarters in Lagos on Friday, May 2, 2025. The event brought together senior executives, long-serving employees, trade partners, entertainers, and industry leaders for a night of reflection, recognition, and entertainment.
The Chairman of the Board of Guinness Nigeria, Prof Fabian Ajogwu, praised the pivotal role employees have played in Guinness Nigeria’s journey since its founding.
“Tonight, we celebrate more than a corporate milestone; we celebrate the spirit of excellence, resilience, and Nigerian ingenuity. Guinness Nigeria’s legacy is built upon generations of visionary leadership, devoted employees, and enduring partnerships,” he said.
The Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria, Mr Girish Sharma, also commended the workforce for its contribution to the company’s growth, noting that Guinness Nigeria’s continued success is rooted in the passion and purpose of its people.
“Seventy-five years is a testament to trust and resilience. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to celebrating life every day, everywhere and that is made possible by the incredible people who power our journey,” he said.
During the event, special awards were presented to long-serving employees, some of whom have been with the company for decades. The recognition underscored Guinness Nigeria’s culture of loyalty and appreciation, reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare and career development.
The Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Mr Segun Ajayi-Kadir, described Guinness Nigeria as a “shining beacon” in Nigeria’s industrial landscape, citing the dedication of its staff as central to its sustained relevance.
Similarly, Lagos State’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, applauded the company for empowering talent and building a global Nigerian brand.
Guests at the anniversary celebration enjoyed a rich blend of music, cuisine, and the premiere of 75 Years of Greatness, a documentary chronicling Guinness Nigeria’s cultural and economic impact.
The event also spotlighted the company’s ongoing social initiatives, including free eye surgeries through the Guinness Eye Centres, clean water projects, women’s empowerment programmes, and educational scholarships.
Guinness Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to continue fostering a workplace built on innovation, purpose, and respect, hallmarks that have defined its 75-year journey.
