Organisers have announced The Netherlands as the official Guest of Honour for the 2026 edition of the Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria, following the success of the 10th edition in 2025.

According to a statement, the Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria 2025, an agro-industrial trade fair held in Lagos, drew 2,230 industry professionals, an 18.5 per cent increase in attendance, setting a new record for the event.

The organisers hailed the event for drawing praise from exhibitors, panelists, and delegates across West and Central Africa.

Announcing the new partnership, Managing Director of fairtrade Messe, Paul Maerz, said the choice of The Netherlands reflects the deepening relationship between the Dutch government and Nigeria, particularly in agriculture and food systems.

“The Netherlands brings global expertise in sustainable agriculture and innovation. Their role as Guest of Honour in 2026 will spotlight new opportunities for collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange,” he said.

The 2025 edition featured 42 conference sessions and 90 speakers, with participants agreeing it was the most impactful edition yet. Germany served as Guest of Honour this year, showcasing its commitment to Nigeria’s industrial development.

Other participating countries included Poland, China, South Africa, and the Netherlands, whose 2026 participation is set to expand even further.

Maerz added that the event once again positioned Lagos as the heartbeat of agro-industrial trade in the region, by displaying state-of-the-art technologies and groundbreaking local innovations.

Also, thousands of targeted business discussions took place on the sidelines, with strong participation from both public and private sector stakeholders, he noted.
