British beauty and skincare brand, The Body Shop, is set to open its doors at Ikeja City Mall on October 1 as part of its expansion drive into Lagos, it said on Tuesday.
The company said the launch marks its second major entry into the Nigerian market after debuting in Abuja and will serve as a hub for beauty enthusiasts across Lagos Mainland, including Surulere, Apapa, Agege, Amuwo Odofin, Mushin, Oshodi-Isolo, Ebute Metta, and Yaba.
General Manager of The Body Shop Nigeria, Shalom Lloyd, said the brand’s entry into Lagos is more than just a retail expansion but a move to inspire self-love and champion ethical beauty.
“Lagos has been calling, and we have answered. Following our successful entry into Abuja, expanding to Lagos, the cultural and economic heartbeat of Nigeria, is a natural next step. We are not just opening stores; we are joining a movement,” Lloyd said in an email.
Ahead of the public launch, a special VIP reception will be held on September 30 at the residence of the British High Commissioner to celebrate the arrival of the iconic British brand in Lagos.
Beyond the Ikeja store, The Body Shop said it is preparing to open another outlet at Circle Mall, Lekki, in November. The Island location will also serve as a distribution hub for the company’s operations across Nigeria.
Chief Executive Officer of the Jean Edwards Group, Edward Nnadi, said the expansion reflects the company’s commitment to driving ethical business and bridging cultures.
“Our expansion into Lagos represents our deep commitment to celebrating community and empowering people. The Body Shop’s arrival isn’t just a business move; it’s a celebration of resilience, empowerment, and beauty with purpose,” Nnadi said.
Founded in 1976 by British activist and entrepreneur Anita Roddick, The Body Shop is known globally for its cruelty-free and sustainably sourced products.
The company said it plans to bring its range of iconic body butters, skincare products, and fragrances to Nigeria’s commercial capital, promising Lagos shoppers a new beauty experience rooted in ethical values.
