Galaxy Backbone Limited and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure have moved to strengthen collaboration on government-wide ICT services as part of efforts to support Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
This followed a courtesy visit by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GBB, Prof Ibrahim Adeyanju, to NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement issued by GBB on Friday, the agency said the engagement created an important platform for both leaders to deepen cooperation and advance a shared vision for improved ICT service delivery across the public sector.
The statement described GBB as the government’s leading provider of digital infrastructure and shared ICT services, adding that the agency remained committed to deepening secure connectivity, enhancing service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, and supporting the integration of homegrown technology solutions into the national ecosystem.
During the meeting, the two chief executives reaffirmed their commitment to advancing interoperability across government platforms, expanding digital access, and enabling smarter, more efficient public services nationwide.
GBB also emphasised its mandate to power “a resilient government-wide ICT backbone, promote the adoption of secure digital platforms, and create a foundation that allows innovation to thrive.
“Together, GBB and NASENI will continue to advance initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy and promote sustainable, technology-driven national development.”
The agency added that the renewed collaboration aligns with ongoing efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s digital future.
Earlier in July 2025, The PUNCH reported that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, expressed confidence in achieving a fully paperless civil service by December 31, 2025, following a working visit to Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria’s leading provider of digital infrastructure and shared ICT services.
The Head of Service described Galaxy Backbone as a strategic partner in the realisation of a modern, agile, and paperless civil service, adding that the quality and scale of infrastructure provided by the agency had significantly enhanced her office’s confidence in achieving the digitalisation goal.
By September 2025, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria’s state-owned digital infrastructure and shared services provider, announced the renewal of four key international certifications, a milestone the company said would fortify national digital infrastructure, enhance trust, and position the country as a secure digital hub.
The certifications include ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), which ensures continuous improvement and delivery of reliable, high-quality services; ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management Systems), which guarantees service resilience and recovery during disruptions or crises.
Others include ISO 20000 (Service Management Systems), which standardises service delivery to improve reliability and customer satisfaction; and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management Systems), which strengthens the confidentiality, integrity, and protection of data against cyber threats.
Galaxy Backbone noted that these standards reaffirm its capability to provide secure, scalable, and sustainable ICT services to ministries, departments, and agencies of government, as well as to private businesses operating in the Nigerian economy.
