FUNAAB partners firm to develop campus bakery

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has relaunched its campus bakery in partnership with Nutrient Life Group of Companies to provide students and staff with high-quality, locally produced bread and pastries.

FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, alongside key university officials, commissioned the bakery recently as part of a public-private partnership aimed at improving food security and sustainability.

Chief Executive Officer of Nutrient Life Group, Michael Olorode, in a statement reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining high production standards and ensuring food accessibility for the university community.

“This partnership goes beyond just producing bread; it is about ensuring quality, nutrition, and accessibility,” Olorode noted. “We are dedicated to keeping the bakery running efficiently and consistently to meet the demand of over 4,000 students living on campus.”

To strengthen the initiative, FUNAAB’s Environmental Unit has introduced new regulations restricting the sale of externally sourced bread on campus. The university said this measure would help maintain quality control and ensure sustainability.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Kola Adebayo, Director of FUNAAB Integrated Ventures Olufisayo Amubode, and Deputy Registrar (DVC Development’s Office) Folasade Giwa also attended the event.

Nutrient Life Group, known for its innovative approach to food production, described the collaboration as part of a broader effort to drive sustainability, improve nutrition, and enhance food access in educational institutions and African communities.
