Flybird gets NCAA approval to operate MRO

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has officially awarded Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited an Approved Maintenance Organisation certification.

With this certification, Flybird joins the list of private jet companies in Nigeria that are allowed by the NCAA to perform maintenance requirements on aircraft in the country.

The company made this known through a statement personally signed by Flybird CEO Ahmed Borodo and made available to journalists on Monday.

With the new approval, Flybirds said it can now perform comprehensive aircraft maintenance, sourcing of spare parts, and flight crew sourcing, among others, in compliance with both national and international aviation standards.

The approval enhances the company’s ability to offer comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services to its fleet as well as to third-party operators.

Commenting on the development, Borodo described the development as a strategic step for the evolution of the aviation company.

He said, “This approval represents a strategic milestone for our company as we evolve into a full-service aviation platform. It enables us to deliver faster turnaround times, maintain higher standards, and ensure greater reliability for our clients. We appreciate the NCAA’s trust in our systems and personnel.”

The company’s Line and Base Maintenance Manager, Paulina Ogbaji, hailed the significance of the certification, saying, “This certification validates the dedication and professionalism of our maintenance team. It reflects our continued commitment to safety and technical excellence as we support an expanding fleet.”

She added that the AMO certification positions Flybird as a growing force in the aviation maintenance sector, further boosting its capabilities and credibility in the industry.
