Firm Urges Support for Sector Growt

Executive Officer and founder of Auxano Aviation, Ehimenmen Odia, has emphasised the vast economic potential of the aviation sector if backed by proper infrastructure and a supportive environment.

Odia made this known to journalists over the weekend during the inauguration of Auxano Aviation’s Benin-City office, located within the state’s airport premises.

He said that with the commencement of general aviation services, Edo State could soon become a hub for aviation activities.

Odia commended Edo State Governor Monday Okpeholo for creating an enabling environment for aviation in the state, expressing optimism that Edo would soon produce pilots and aircraft engineers through Auxano’s training programmes.

He said the initiative would enhance service delivery, boost tourism, create jobs, and unlock economic opportunities for the state.

“Part of our vision is to develop infrastructure and introduce people to flying their planes, a scenario where doctors, lawyers, and businesspeople can fly to Asaba or Lagos and return the same day. Aviation is an untapped sector, and we believe it can transform Edo State,” he said.

“The economic potential in the aviation sector cannot be overemphasised if proper infrastructure and the enabling environment are provided and harnessed by stakeholders.”

Citing Ososo Hills as an example, Odia added, “I’ve told my friends about it, but they couldn’t visit. Now, with Auxano Aircraft, we can fly there. Tourists can explore our sites, and we’re working on training young people to build skills in aviation.”

He likened the approach to education: “Everyone wants big jets, but it’s like building universities without focusing on primary schools. Every pilot starts by flying small planes. That’s the global standard.”

Odia thanked the Edo State government for granting 12 acres of land to build hangars. “This is a wonderful day,” he concluded.

Vice President of Benin Aero Club, Morrison Okunbo, praised the vision of the operator for pioneering the first privately funded general aviation service in West Africa.

The event was attended by top government officials, including the Director-General of Edo State Migration Agency, Lucky Agazuma; Managing Director of Edo State Procurement Agency, Deborah Okunbo; Executive Chairman of Edo State Senior Secondary School Board, Dr Maureen Ekhoragbon; and President of Auxano Club, Benin, Reverend Craig Omorodion, among others.
