Firm inaugurates organic sesame hulling plant


Agventure Commodities Limited on Monday inaugurated an organic and natural sesame hulling plant in Kano State as part of efforts to expand agro export in the country.

The new sesame hulling plant is expected to generate employment opportunities for the local community, creating over 600 direct and indirect new jobs.

The General Manager of the company, Sheeju Prabhakaran made the disclosure during the inauguration of the place at Tunfafi Village in DawakinTofa local government area of the state.

“By sourcing sesame seeds directly from local farmers, Agventure aims to strengthen agricultural supply chains and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state and the country in general.

He said that the Hulling Plant would also support local farmers and create employment opportunities for many unemployed people in the state.

“Our new facility at Kano is built to enhance production capacity, boost export potential, and drive sustainable growth in the Agro sector

According to him, the facility has been built to comply with international standards for food manufacturing and utilize state-of-the-art technologies including dry hulling and color sorting.

In his remarks, the Treasury Director of the Company, Mr. Derek Olokor took the guests through the company’s past achievements, ongoing projects, and plans.  “Our new plant is a testament to our efforts to adopt responsible production practices while supporting the livelihoods of farmers in the region.”

“The newly established sesame hulling plant represents a significant milestone for Agventure Commodities Ltd, as it is poised to increase the company’s sesame seed processing capacity by 7,000 metric tonnes per year.

The plant will enable efficient and high-quality sesame hulling, meeting the growing demand for premium hulled sesame seeds in international markets such as the USA, Europe and Asia.
