Fani-Kayode Warns Of ‘Fake News Strategy,’ Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany and former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode On Tuesday alleged opposition forces of purveying fake news to create tension within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a social media statement, Fani-Kayode claimed that the opposition is deliberately spreading disinformation to sow discord, weaken confidence, and destabilize the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led government.

According to him, recent claims suggesting that the Governor of Nasarawa State is working for opposition figure Atiku Abubakar are part of a broader misinformation campaign designed to create panic within the ranks of the APC.

“It is clear that the strategy of the opposition is to spread fake news in the media in order to create tension and panic in the ranks of the Government and the ruling party, knock our heads together, create dissection in our ranks and plant doubts in our minds about our ability to win.

“Every day they come up with something new like the fake news about the Governor of Nassarawa state working for Atiku. Tomorrow it will be someone else,” he lamented.

He warned that the political atmosphere is becoming increasingly tense while also urging party members and supporters of President Tinubu to remain united and vigilant.

The Ambassador also called on members of the ruling party to “close ranks” and prepare for what he described as a major political battle in 2027, stressing the need for unity and strategic coordination.

He further encouraged the inclusion of young, vibrant, and courageous Nigerians in the political process, noting that their involvement will be critical in strengthening the party’s position ahead of the elections.

Expressing confidence in the APC’s chances, he stated that despite what he described as efforts by “local collaborators and foreign interests” to destabilize the country, the ruling party would prevail.

“What we need to do is to get our act together, prepare our battle formations and rise up to the occassion by bringing some of our youngest, brightest and most courageous youths into the fray and the forefront of the fight.

“By Gods grace the President shall be re-elected in 2027 and Nigeria shall continue to go from strength to strength,” he remarked.
