FAAN reaffirms commitment to safety at airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to safety as the foundation of all airport operations, emphasising its importance in fostering a trusted and secure environment for passengers, employees, and stakeholders.

This was contained in a statement made available to the PUNCH on Tuesday.

Speaking through the statement, the agency’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, said a week after assuming office, FAAN management reviewed and officially signed the FAAN Corporate Safety Policy, reinforcing the organisation’s dedication to maintaining a robust safety culture.

The policy, according to Kuku, underscores FAAN’s responsibility to uphold safety at all levels, from infrastructure, security, and passengers’ well-being.

Kuku said “As an essential hub facilitating global travel, safety is not just a regulatory obligation, but a core value that permeates every facet of our operations,”

She added, “Our focus is on safeguarding human lives, protecting airport infrastructure, and instilling confidence among both travellers and staff.”

The safety commitment spans all airport activities, including rigorous safety inspections, cutting-edge security systems, and regular emergency drills designed to prepare staff for any potential scenario.

FAAN also collaborates with key regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, and Airports Council International to continually review and upgrade safety protocols based on the latest industry advancements.

“At FAAN, safety goes beyond compliance with standards.

It is an ongoing commitment to ensuring safe, reliable travel for all who enter our facilities.

“This commitment drives every decision we make, from investments in technology to the development of policies aimed at ensuring the highest levels of security and safety.”

FAAN seeks to enhance the overall passenger experience while ensuring the security and safety of everyone who steps foot on the airport grounds.
