Ex-S’east Govs Back Tinubu’s Re-Election

Former South-East governors yesterday expressed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Martins Elechi (Ebonyi), Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Chris Ngige (Anambra) made the pledge during the inauguration of the South East Forum of Former Governors in Enugu. Other ex-governors were said to be absent due to engagements within and outside the country.

In a communiqué read by Umahi, the former governors resolved to back Tinubu due to his “infrastructure revolution” and the strategic appointment of South East indigenes to key national positions According to the group, the forum is designed to provide advisory support to serving governors in the region on key regional and national issues, irrespective of political affiliations.

Umahi said: “We commend the great works that our governors of the South East are doing for the benefit of our people.” The forum declared that all South East governors are aligned in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing the move as “strategic thinking and a strategic approach”. “We are not a parallel body. This is for support,” the communiqué said.

The forum also announced plans to visit Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, who is expected to relay the outcome of the meeting to the South East Governors’ Forum Chairman Hope Uzodimma, and other governors in the region.
