Former Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ekiti State, Prince Adetoyi Olabode, has lauded the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for the approval of the products of an indigenous company, Value Ingredients Limited.
This is contained in a press statement issued on Wednesday, February 11, and made available to newsmen in Abuja while looking at the Agricultural value chain in the country.
The Company’s products include Poundo Yam, Fufu Flour, Plantain Flour, Value Ogi and Garri.
Meanwhile, he lamented over the shortage of farmers and processors in the country.
Olabode said their numbers will improve food security in the country.
Adetoyi added that there is little or no intentionality on the part of governments at all levels.
He, therefore, called on both the Federal and State Governments to be intentional in supporting local farmers in Nigeria.
“Food security can be addressed now if we can have more farmers and processors. Governments at all levels are not helping matters.
‘Hence, both state and federal governments should be intentional in supporting us and make the enabling environment conducive,” he said.
