Enterprise Life appoints new MD

Enterprise Life Assurance Nigeria has appointed Nelson Akerele as its new Managing Director, following the departure of Mrs Funmilayo Omo, who served in the role for five years.

The leadership change was confirmed by the company’s board and announced at a formal event held at the firm’s Lagos head office on Thursday.

Omo joined Enterprise Life Nigeria in 2020 and led the company through a period of significant growth, focusing on digital innovation and expanding access to life insurance products across underserved markets in Nigeria.

Akerele brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. His expertise includes strategic growth, business development, and operational management. The board expressed confidence that he will continue to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Group, Daniel Larbi-Tieku, stated, “Nelson Akerele is a proven leader with a strong understanding of the Nigerian insurance industry. His appointment marks a new chapter for Enterprise Life Nigeria as the firm deepens its commitment to innovation and customer service.”

Speaking after his appointment, Akerele said, “I am honoured to lead Enterprise Life Nigeria at this important time. I look forward to working with the team to make insurance more accessible and impactful for Nigerians.”

The PUNCH reported that the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Life Assurance Limited, Funmilayo Omo, has said that the adoption of insurance was key to driving financial inclusion in the country.
