Nigerian mechanical engineer Oluwapelumi Adebowale has said he is making significant strides in battery electric vehicle systems, merging technical precision with visionary leadership to reshape the future of transportation in the country.

He made this known in an exposé made available to The PUNCH on Tuesday, explaining his moves to make automobiles better in Nigeria.

With over four years of experience in design, product development, validation, and service engineering, Adebowale said he is currently a Service Engineering Technical Specialist at Accelera by Cummins.

In this role, according to him, he is helping to prepare global service networks for the growing BEV market, ensuring they are equipped to handle the complexities of modern electric drivetrains and energy storage systems.

Working in tandem with mechanical tools teams, Adebowale has spearheaded the development and validation of advanced service tools.

“These tools have streamlined diagnostics and repair processes, cutting maintenance time by 20 per cent and improving service precision – critical improvements as electric vehicles become more mainstream,” he stated.

Adebowale added that he had also “leveraged his analytical skills as a market intelligence analyst, delivering key insights into the use of proton exchange membrane and solid oxide fuel cells for stationary power applications.”

Looking ahead, Adebowale envisions a future where electric vehicles are seamlessly embedded into the global transport framework, backed by resilient infrastructure and a skilled workforce. His work at the forefront of BEV technology is helping to drive that vision forward.
