Egbin Power boosts community unity with football tournament

Egbin Power Plc says it has demonstrated commitment to youth development and community cohesion through its annual football tournament, a flagship initiative under its Personal Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

Now in its fourth edition, Egbin said in a statement that the tournament brings together young people from its host communities, providing a platform for positive engagement, mutual respect, and teamwork.

The initiative, it was said, underscores the company’s belief that sustainable development thrives where communities are united and actively involved.

It added that 16 teams participated throughout the competition, demonstrating not only skill and competitiveness but also camaraderie and fair play.

The Head of Corporate Communications & Branding at Egbin Power, Felix Ofulue, described the initiative as “a strategic investment in people and communities.”

He added, “Beyond recreation, it instils critical life skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, and resilience, qualities that are essential for personal growth and societal progress.

Our objective is to evolve this initiative into a unifying force that strengthens relationships across communities while reinforcing Egbin Power’s brand as a responsible, people-centred organisation.”

The captain of the winning team, Alanu-Omo FC, Samad Ojikutu, praised the company for its continued focus on youth empowerment. “Winning is exciting, but what matters most is the unity we experience as a team and as a community. It reminds us that we can achieve so much more when we work together,” he said.

It was added that prizes were awarded to the top three teams, with Alanu-Omo FC taking home N1m, the first runner-up getting N700,000, and the third-place team receiving N500,000.

Egbin Power reaffirmed that deliberate investments in youth and social cohesion remain central to its commitment to inclusive growth, sustainable community relations, and the creation of long-term shared value.
