Edgebase Technologies marks 20 years of innovation in Nigeri

Nigerian technology firm Edgebase Technologies is celebrating 20 years of innovation, local impact and community building, marking two decades of contributions to Nigeria’s and West Africa’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

Founded in 2005 as a small start-up focused on hardware supply, Edgebase has grown into a trusted partner for IT enterprise infrastructure, engineering services, cybersecurity and emerging technology solutions. Over the years, the company has expanded into full-stack infrastructure and developed long-term partnerships with leading global Original Equipment Manufacturers, cementing its reputation as a reliable provider of enterprise-grade technology solutions.

Speaking on the milestone, Chief Executive Officer of Edgebase Technologies, Joel Egbai, said, “Our journey started with a simple belief that Nigeria could build and maintain technology infrastructure at the same quality found anywhere in the world.

Twenty years later, that belief has shaped everything we have become. We have grown talent, invested in people, strengthened our clients’ businesses and built leaders who are now driving impact across the ICT industry and beyond.”

Edgebase’s services span multiple sectors, including financial services, oil and gas, manufacturing and telecommunications. Its guiding principles emphasise timeliness, accuracy, trust and tailored solutions, ensuring that clients receive world-class infrastructure aligned with African realities.

A significant part of the company’s legacy lies in human capital development. Through structured internship pipelines, OEM-certified training paths and mentorship programmes, Edgebase has nurtured young Nigerian talent, equipping them to take up leadership roles across West Africa’s ICT industry.

Head of Human Capital Management and Executive Director, Lukman Afolabi, said, “People often see the projects and systems, but the real story of Edgebase has always been the people behind them. Many engineers who joined us straight from school are now leading technology teams across the region.”

The company has also demonstrated resilience and strategic foresight, navigating challenges such as power instability, foreign exchange volatility and supply chain disruptions while continuing to deliver critical technology infrastructure. These strategic pivots, which include embracing new OEM relationships and expanding engineering capabilities, have enabled Edgebase to meet client needs consistently and anticipate future demands.

Looking ahead, Edgebase is investing in emerging technologies, including AI-driven infrastructure, advanced cybersecurity and smarter data centre solutions. The company plans to deepen its partnership network, enhance cybersecurity offerings and introduce innovative enterprise solutions designed to help clients manage risks proactively. General Manager, Sales, Modupe Adesiyun, emphasised that these advancements require ongoing talent development to build capacity and capability for future challenges.

Beyond its business impact, Edgebase has contributed to socio-economic development in Nigeria through job creation, SME empowerment, digital access initiatives and community-focused programmes. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the company has planned a six-month series of activities, including competitions, awards, scholarships and community support initiatives targeting schools, children and other local beneficiaries.

Reflecting on the milestone, Egbai said, “Twenty years is a major milestone, but it also marks a new beginning. We will continue to innovate, continue to build capacity and continue to play our part in shaping a stronger and more resilient digital economy for Africa.”

Edgebase Technologies’ journey over the last two decades underscores Nigeria’s ICT growth trajectory, demonstrating how strategic innovation, local talent development and strong partnerships can position African technology firms as leaders in regional and global digital markets.
