The Plateau State Government has announced a partial relaxation of the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following the recent violent attack in the Angwan Rukuba community.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government said the decision followed the restoration of relative calm in the affected area.
The curfew, which was imposed in the wake of the deadly incident, will now be eased from 7 am to 3 pm daily, effective April 1, 2026, allowing residents to resume essential and lawful activities within the specified hours.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang-led administration noted that the adjustment became necessary to strike a balance between maintaining security and enabling residents to attend to their daily needs.
The government, however, urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, stressing that security agencies would continue to monitor developments closely to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
It also commended residents for their cooperation and resilience during the enforcement of the curfew, assuring them of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
