The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the price of cooking gas rose from N1,100 per kg to as high as N1,800 per kg in various outlets immediately after the PENGASSAN strike commenced in September.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Dr Ekperikpe Ekpo, attributed the price surge to the industrial action by PENGASSAN at the Dangote Refinery.

The minister said ongoing maintenance activities at the Nigeria LNG Train 4 facility were also partly responsible.
