Emerging content creators walked away with prizes, including a brand-new car valued at about N40m and cash rewards totalling N11.5m at the grand finale of the Mikano Changan Creators Challenge.
The event, held at the Mikano Motors showroom in Lagos, brought together industry leaders, digital creators, media professionals and entertainment personalities.
At the centre of the moment was Chibundu Chisom, who emerged as the overall winner, clinching the grand prize of a brand new Mikano Changan CS35 vehicle. For him, the victory was more than just a reward.
“This is a meaningful recognition of my creativity and a reminder that when given the right platform, creativity can truly open doors,” he said.
Organisers explained that the challenge was designed to spotlight Nigeria’s fast-growing community of digital creators, giving them a platform to express their ideas and be rewarded for originality.
The PUNCH gathered that participants were tasked with creating engaging content around Mikano Changan vehicles, turning everyday storytelling into compelling digital expressions.
Speaking at the event, the National Head of Operations at Mikano Motors, Syam Abdul Kadir, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the creative ecosystem.
He noted that creativity remains a powerful driver of growth and opportunity, stressing, “The main aim of this initiative is to support creators in their creative journey and enable them to grow exponentially.”
Beyond the grand prize, other winners who also shared in the rewards are Princess Omusuku, who emerged as first runner-up and received N3m, and Oluwamayowa Philip, the second runner-up, who went home with N1.5m.
In addition, 14 other finalists were each awarded N500,000 in recognition of their effort and consistency throughout the competition.
The organisers stressed that the selection process was overseen by a panel of respected judges, including comedian Bovi Ugboma, Doris Ogah, Chioma Ude, and other industry figures, who evaluated entries based on creativity, storytelling and originality.
Also present to add glamour to the occasion were popular actresses Jemima Osunde, KieKie, and Rita Dominic and Patrick the Bassist, highlighting the growing synergy within Nigeria’s creative community.
Chisom said the event marked a turning point for him and encouraged others to remain committed to their craft, saying, “Mikano’s support has shown that there are real opportunities for creators who stay consistent.”
