Concord Access Launches New Genie Scissor Lifts in Africa

South African equipment supplier, Concord Access Solutions, has launched its Genie Next-Gen slab scissor lift range across the African market, saying it is introducing major improvements in lift design, performance, and efficiency.

The firm disclosed in a statement that the new models – GS-1932, GS-2646, GS-3246, and GS-4046 – offered up to 30 per cent more runtime, 70 per cent fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings, and up to 35 per cent savings in maintenance costs

“These new lifts mark a key milestone in the evolution of electric slab scissor lifts. While internal changes and technological enhancements have continued over the years, the overall appearance of these lifts has remained the same across manufacturers, until now, Sales Manager at CAS, Marcus Gartside, said.

According to him, key upgrades include the shift from hydraulic to DC electric drive motors, with the retention of energy-efficient AC drive motors from the E-Drive range.

It was stated that the redesigned lifts feature a curved linkage structure that enhances strength while reducing weight and enables the use of more affordable components such as batteries and motors.

The machines, it was stated, now come standard with maintenance-free Absorbent Glass Mat batteries, with lithium-ion options available.

It was said that a special oil-free version of the GS-1932, dubbed the E-Lift, is available for sensitive environments like food manufacturing.

“Although previous models retained a traditional, boxy design that didn’t reflect the internal innovation of the engineering team, the Next-Gen range now brings the outside in line with the inside,” Gartside said.

Other improvements include a reinforced platform and extension deck to reduce flex, new modular platform controls compliant with ISO21455 standards, and upgrades such as recessed decals, a rugged manual box, and reinforced forklift pockets, according to Gartside.

“These enhancements are all designed to make this Next-Gen range of scissor lifts a true all-round performer that raises the industry bar once again,” he added.

“Previously operating as Goscor Access Solutions until February 2024, CAS now runs a fleet of over 1,000 units with working heights ranging from six to 57 metres. Its footprint spans countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, the DRC, Kenya, and the broader Southern African Development Community region, offering both sales and rentals.

“This leap forward in design makes the Next-Gen range even better suited for industries like manufacturing, maintenance, construction, cleaning, painting, warehousing, hospitals, data centres and hospitality,” Gartside said.
